Principal's Message

Dear Jefferson Families,

Welcome Back to the 2020-2021 school year! I hope you are having a safe and enjoyable summer.  I know this has been a challenging summer due to COVID-19, but I hope you have found time to relax, recharge, and reconnect with your family.  It is with great pleasure to announce that I continue to serve as the proud interim principal for the Jefferson community.  I look forward to continuing our shared path towards another successful year for ALL our Jefferson Jaguars.

During these trying times, we continue to show Jefferson pride. Jefferson Elementary became the first Project Lead the Way School in Compton Unified due to our teachers’ innovative work towards innovation and creativity. We were recognized as Los Angeles County Top Public School for two years in a row. We will continue to work collaboratively to support our ongoing drive towards student achievement.

The school year will officially begin on Thursday, August 20, 2020, with Distance Learning.  Within the coming week, you will receive information regarding a schedule to pick up iPads, textbooks, workbooks, and other school materials.  Our staff is working diligently to prepare for the coming school year.  We believe that every student, despite any challenges, should have the same opportunities to succeed. Our students are our priority; this is why we will work together to meet all students’ needs.  FAQ on School Closure and Distance Learning are posted on the district website http://compton.k12.ca.us/

We are committed to meeting our school vision of providing a 21st-century education that ensures students are college and career ready, globally competitive, and citizens of strong character. Our school focus will be daily attendance, high academic expectations on core content, distance learning support, and parent workshops.

Together with our school staff, parents, students, we will meet our school expectations of ”Academic Excellence & Beyond” and our schoolwide motto of ”Believe and Achieve.”

We are #JeffersonStrong #AllInThisTogether
